Dowling Commits to the Tigers

Halifax, N.S.) - Dalhousie men’s volleyball head coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the addition of Quinton Dowling to the Tigers lineup for the 2018-19 season.

A native of Waterloo, Ontario, Dowling has enjoyed a lot of success in the club volleyball system, most notably winning bronze as a member of the Kitchener Waterloo Predators Club at the Volleyball Canada national championships in 2016 and 2017. Dowling had an impressive showing at last year’s event and was named to the championship all-star team.

A 6’0 setter, Dowling was a member of Ontario’s 17U provincial program last summer. He is also an accomplished basketball and soccer player, earning MVP honours with both his high school teams last year.

“I’m very excited to come to Dalhousie because of the opportunity to earn a degree at an excellent university,” says Dowling. “I look forward to joining the Tiger family and working with Coach Ota and the team.”

An honour roll student the last three years, Dowling will graduate from St. David Catholic Secondary School in June and intends to pursue a degree in kinesiology next fall.

“We're very happy that Quinton will be joining our Tigers family,” says Ota. “I've had the opportunity to watch him play for the past two seasons and I'm impressed with what I've seen so far. Quinton excels at making players around him better and his competitiveness is off the charts. He will be a key piece of a young core of players that I see emerging into national contention over the next few years.”

The men’s volleyball team has their sights set their 37th AUS title, and is currently second in the AUS regular season standings.
