Tigers take 2 wins and a loss at AUS-RSEQ Interlock

On Friday, November 20th, and Saturday, November 21st, the men's volleyball team competed in the AUS-RSEQ Interlock tournament at Sherbrooke. On Friday, the Tigers won 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 27-25, 25-17) in their game against Laval. On Saturday, Dalhousie lost to Montreal at a score of 3-1 (21-25, 25-14, 27-25, 25-17) then finished off the tournament with a 3-2 (25-21, 14-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-10) win over Sherbrooke.

In Friday's game, Dalhousie's Kristen O'Brien (Truro, NS) dominated on the offence, with 41 total attacks and 16 kills throughout the game. Connor Massaen made the most of his attacking opportunities and had a 42.9 kill percentage which earned him 9 kills throughout the game. Jonathan MacDonald (Halifax, NS) set up these offensive opportunities with 31 assists over the course of the game. On the opposing side, Laval had a very strong defense. Vincent P. Villalobos (Santiago de Chile, Chili) dominated with 16 digs and teammate Bruno Lortie (Ottawa, ON) followed close behind with 15.

On Saturday morning's game against Montreal, the Carabins finished with a 3-1 win over the Dalhousie Tigers. Montreal's Alyson Francillion (Longueuil, QC) led with 14 kills, and teammate Saad Elbekri (Montreal, QC) followed close behind with 13. On Dalhousie's side, O'Brien led once again with 11 kills throughout the game. Dalhousie's Adam Sandeson (Truro, NS) was vital to the Tigers' defense; he had 21 out Dalhousie's 55 digs during the game.

On Saturday afternoon, Dalhousie played their last game of the tournament against Sherbrooke and finished the game with a 3-2 win. Once again, O'Brien came away with the most kills, standing at 18 total. Continuing on the Tigers' side, Maessen had 13 kills and Matthew Donovan (London, ON) followed closely with 12. Again, Dalhousie's Jonathan MacDonald set up the Tigers' offense nicely with 41 assists. On Sherbrooke's team, Daniel Moreau had 16 kills bringing him to a 28.9 kill percentage. Setting up the attacks for Sherbrooke was Joel Beauregard who had 40 assists to his name. Sherbrooke also showed a strong defense, especially from William Marier who made 18 digs during the game.

Dalhousie's (5-3) next game will be on Friday, January 15th against UNB (4-4) at 8pm in the Dalplex.
