Mo Wahdan scored for the Tigers in their 1-1 tie with the Capers on Sunday.
SYDNEY, Nova Scotia — Dalhousie Tigers and Cape Breton Capers played to a 1-1 draw, with each team scoring once in the first and second halves, respectively.
The first half began with Dalhousie taking the initiative early, as Mohammed Tolba and Joseph Odume each attempted shots within the opening minutes, though neither found the net. The breakthrough for Dalhousie came in the 8th minute when Mohammed Wahdan successfully converted a penalty kick, putting the Tigers ahead 1-0.
Sinclair Astridge was tested in goal, making key saves against Cape Breton attempts by Evan Cunningham and Harvey Hughes to maintain the lead. Dalhousie continued to press offensively with Kyle Routledge and Wahdan attempting further shots, though they did not add to the score. The half concluded with the Tigers holding a 1-0 advantage over the Capers.
The second half saw Cape Breton quickly level the score in the 46th minute with a goal by Mateo Goldsztein, despite an earlier save by Dalhousie's Astridge. The Tigers responded with multiple attacking efforts, as Woody Bain and Reese Weatherston both tested the Cape Breton defense, with several shots resulting in corner kicks but ultimately being saved or blocked by the Cape Breton goalkeeper, Jack Harrington. Kyle Routledge, who was named the player of the game for the Tigers, was instrumental in maintaining the offensive pressure.
Dalhousie maintained offensive pressure throughout the half, with Tolba consistently creating opportunities from set pieces. Despite the Capers' frequent fouls and yellow cards, the Tigers were unable to capitalize further. The half concluded with the score tied at 1-1, as both teams held firm defensively.
Wahdan scored a goal on one of his two shots, converting a penalty kick to contribute to the team's effort. Astridge, the goalkeeper, recorded three saves while allowing one goal in 90 minutes of play. Bain managed two shots, with one on target, helping to press the opposition. Tolba added offensive pressure with three shots, including one on goal.
The Tigers have a short break before returning to the field on October 17 at Wickwire field.
