2016 Men's Soccer Season Preview

2016 Men's Soccer Season Preview

The 2016 version of the men’s soccer team will have both familiar and fresh faces. Despite losing captain Mark Hagen and CIS all-Canadian and AUS all-star, Bezick Evraire to graduation, the Tigers will have solid leadership from Robbie Engert, James Nearing and Jack Schembri who all return for their fifth seasons along with former AUS all-star and transfer student Pawel Gorski.  Schembri and fourth-year Jonathan Doucett will lead the team as co-captains.

The Tigers will be a mixture of young and experienced players providing a lot of depth as well as young ambition. The team will be anchored by experienced defenders and the solid goalkeeping duo of TJ Leopold and Ryan Merlin. Nearing and Engert, along with second-year Freddy Bekkers will provide a wealth of experience in the midfield.

Second-year transfer Kallen Heenan will add to the pace and firepower up front along with several new additions to the team who are vying to make some noise in the league.

Halifax-based players James Matthews, William Fitzgerald and Cape Bretoner Tanner Guyaux will look to have an immediate impact with the Black and Gold.
