O'Rourke commits to Tigers for 2020-21 season

Dalhousie Tigers men’s hockey head coach Chris Donnelly is pleased to announce the commitment of Ethan O’Rourke for the 2020-21 season.

A native of Prince George, B.C., O’Rourke played for the Coquitlam Express of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) this past season. He scored 16 goals with 11 assists in 31 games, helping them to a regular season championship win before their playoff run could start due to the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic. O’Rourke also received the team’s Unsung Hero award.

Before Coquitlam, the 6’6 centre played in the Western Hockey League for three years. O’Rourke and his Everett Silvertips teammates were crowned playoff conference champions at the end of the 2017-18 season. The following season O’Rourke suited up for the Swift Current Broncos where he netted 12 goals and 11 assists and was named the team’s humanitarian of the year.

“Dalhousie has an extremely impressive athletic department,” says O’Rourke. “I am beyond excited to begin my U SPORTS journey playing for the Tigers.”

O’Rourke will be working towards a Bachelor of Science while attending Dalhousie University.

“Ethan brings an extremely competitive personality to our line up and a big frame at 6’6, with lots of speed,” says Donnelly. “He has competed in the WHL, the BCHL and was a member of British Columbia’s 2015 Canada Games Hockey Team. Ethan just completed a season which saw him break out offensively and we are sure he will continue his offensive development in our program.”

The Tigers ended the 2019-20 season outside of the playoffs, finishing with an 8-22 record.
