Dalhousie Tigers men’s hockey head coach Chris Donnelly is pleased to announce the commitment of Jameson Murray for the 2020-21 season.

Murray, a native of Kelowna, B.C., suited up for the Trail Smoke Eaters of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) for the shortened 2019-20 season. Before playing in the BCHL, the 6’3 defenceman played more than 120 games over three seasons in the Western Hockey League  (WHL) with the Calgary Hitmen, Everett Silvertips and most recently, the Victoria Royals. He had 19 points with the Royals in the 2018-19 season.

“I am extremely excited to be going to Dalhousie University and to have the opportunity to play for the Tigers,” says Murray. “I have heard nothing but amazing comments about Dalhousie and the city of Halifax. I can’t wait to spend the next four years being a Tiger.”

Murray will be working towards a Bachelor of Arts while attending Dalhousie.

“We’re pleased to have a player of Jameson’s calibre show interest in attending Dalhousie and continue his development as a hockey player,” says Donnelly. “A character player throughout his junior career, he was looked upon to be solid defensively, as he is a very talented skater with very good mobility and agility. Jameson is also a player who can play both forward and defence, which was reflected in his offensive ability later in his career.”

The Tigers finished the 2019-20 season outside of a playoff spot with an 8-22 record.
