(Halifax, N.S.) – Dalhousie men’s hockey head coach Chris Donnelly is pleased to announce the commitment of Connor Hicks to the Tigers 2018-19 lineup.

A 6’4 goaltender, Hicks will suit up for the Tigers after four seasons between the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OHL) and the Central Canadian Hockey League (CCHL). He started his junior career with the Belleville Bulls in the 2014-15 season, playing in 28 games and posting a .894 save percentage.  The following year, he played 30 games for the Hamilton Bulldogs and finished with another .894 save percentage.

Hicks moved on to the Flint Firebirds for the 2016-17 season, leading them to the first round of the OHL playoffs. He made 896 saves that season in 38 games. He joined the Ottawa Jr. Senators of the CCHL after three games with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Hicks posted a .933 regular season save percentage, leading the Senators to a division championship. They went deep into the playoffs, winning the Fred Page Cup championship before dropping their RBC Cup semifinal to the eventual champion Chilliwack Chiefs. Hicks was named the Fred Page Cup championship all-star goalie and the overall league playoff MVP for his efforts.

“I am thrilled to spend the next four years at Dalhousie,” says Hicks. “I’m excited to further my education while being a part of a great hockey program.”

The Kanata, Ont. native graduated from Abbey Park High School in 2016. He will begin his pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences in September.

“Connor has four years of experience at the major junior level and is coming off an incredible season with the Fred Cup champion Ottawa Jr. Senators,” says Donnelly.  “He is a very competitive individual with good size who moves well in the net. We couldn’t be more pleased to have him join our program.”

The Tigers ended the 2017-18 campaign in the first round of the AUS playoffs and look to build upon that momentum in the 2018-19 season.
