Campbell Pickard joins men's hockey team

Dalhousie men’s hockey head coach Chris Donnelly is pleased to announce the commitment of Campbell Pickard to the Tigers 2018-19 lineup.

A 6’3 forward, Pickard joins the Tigers after four seasons between the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and the Maritime Hockey League (MHL). He started his junior career with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the 2013-14 season but spent most of that year with the Bridgewater Lumberjacks (MHL). After 10 games in the first part of the 2014-15 season, he moved on to join the Acadie-Bathurst Titan where he stayed until midway through the 2015-16 and ended the year with the Moncton Wildcats.

Pickard played the 2016-17 season with the MHL’s Miramichi Timberwolves before finishing his junior career with the Truro Bearcats this past season. He amassed a team-high 69 points in 50 games this year, scoring 34 goals and 35 assists, good for fourth in the league.

The Bearcats captain was named an MHL all-star this year and earned the prestigious Character Player of the Year award for his leadership on and off the ice.

“I am extremely honoured to be coming to Dalhousie,” says Pickard. “I’m excited to be playing with the Tigers.”

The Halifax, N.S. native graduated from Halifax West High School with honours in 2015. He will begin his pursuit of a Bachelor Commerce Co-op in September.

“We are fortunate to be able to add local talent Campbell Pickard to next year’s lineup,” says Donnelly. “He combines intelligent play with an outstanding work ethic that will fit well into our style of play. We look forward to having his leadership abilities mesh into our dressing room.”

The Tigers ended the 2017-18 campaign in the first round of the AUS playoffs and look to build upon that momentum in the 2018-19 season.
