Tigers add Moore for 2025-26
Dalhousie Tigers men’s basketball head coach Rick Plato is pleased to announce the commitment of Sam Moore for the 2025-26 season.
Dalhousie Tigers men’s basketball head coach Rick Plato is pleased to announce the commitment of Sam Moore for the 2025-26 season.
Hailing from Port Williams, Nova Scotia, the 6’5 guard plays for the Horton High School basketball team. Moore also completed at the provincial level as a member of the Basketball Nova Scotia Provincial U16 and U17 teams in 2023 and 2024. Moore was selected as a 2024-25 Boys Basketball MVP and First Team All Star in the School Sport Nova Scotia Western Region. In December he also was named a 2024 Crandell University Men’s Hoop Basketball Classic Tournament First Team All Star.
A multi-sport athlete, Moore he earned the 2024-25 Horton High School Football Offensive Player of the Year award and won gold medals in the long jump and triple jump at the 2023-24 SSNS Provincial Championship.
“I’m very thankful for this opportunity to play at Dal, and I’m very excited to play with a great group of guys and great coaches.” Says Moore. “Dal’s athletics and academics is a great fit for me, and I can’t wait to get started.”
The four time honour roll student will be studying kinesiology at Dalhousie.
“Sam’s versatility and athleticism will allow him to play multiple positions,” says head coach Rick Plato. “Sam has good size for a guard and is adept at running the floor. With his athleticism he will be counted to be a dynamic force in offensive transition and improve our perimeter defense, rebounding, and multi-level scoring. Sam will be a significant addition to our line up and I fully expect him to be a force in the AUS for years to come.”
The Tigers finished their season with a 6-13 record, outside of a playoff spot.
