(Halifax, N.S.) –The Dalhousie Tigers women's basketball and volleyball teams are pleased to announce that TD Bank Group is back as a major partner for the eighth annual TD Women in Leadership Spotlight Dinner on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. 

TD is committed to many great initiatives including women in leadership through community giving and is back for their fifth year as a presenting partner. 

"Diversity and inclusion is a significant priority for us at TD," says Sana Hubaishy, District Vice President and Chair of the Atlantic TD Women In Leadership Employee Group. "We strive to identify opportunities that support development programs for women and organizations that make a difference in our communities, like this event, which helps connect, encourage and celebrate women. This evening is a valuable learning experience and opportunity for women to connect with a powerful network of like-minded colleagues, and something we're thrilled to be a part of."

This year’s event takes place in the McInnes Room of the Dalhousie Student Union Building beginning at 6pm and will feature a panel discussion with special guest former basketball player Dr. Jillian Macdonald and members of the women’s basketball and volleyball teams.

A native of Moncton, N.B., Macdonald played on the women’s basketball team for four seasons (1997-2001). A James Bayer Award recipient, she helped lead the Tigers to an AUS championship title in 2001.

“Dalhousie University played a significant role in everything I have accomplished in my professional life,” says Macdonald. “The formative years I spent at Dal, particularly as a member of the women’s basketball team, provided me with a strong foundation where I felt capable and confident in pursuing my goals and dreams. I was lucky to be involved in a program that empowered women and taught leadership skills that ultimately became life skills. The TD Women in Leadership Dinner is a fantastic event that furthers Dalhousie’s tradition of mentoring and encouraging women to reach their full potential. I am honoured to be a part of this incredible evening.”

The evening will commence with a pre-dinner reception, followed by dinner and team presentations. A panel discussion will follow with athletes posing questions to our special guest. She will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the athletes.

“We are very thrilled about this year’s event,” says women’s volleyball head coach Rick Scott. “It’s a wonderful evening and a tremendous opportunity for us to showcase all of our student-athletes’ amazing work on the court, in the classroom and in the community. Jillian Macdonald is an impressive woman and will no doubt inspire us with her personal and professional journey. We are thrilled to have her as our special guest and look forward to another wonderful evening.”
