First Year Feature - March
The transition from high school to university athletics can be challenging for any first-year student-athlete. We’re featuring first-year athletes from each of our seven varsity sports each month this season. This month we take a closer look at women's basketball team member Anjuli Gosal and her path to the AUS!
GOsal is from Brampton, Ontario and is majoring in neuroscience.

How long have you been playing basketball?

10 years, since I was eight.

Have you always been a shooting guard?

Yes, I’ve always played that position.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

I played soccer until I was seven and did figure skating until I was 13.

What is your favourite part of playing basketball?

I love the competitiveness that comes with basketball.

Who is somebody in sports you admired growing up and why?

I looked up to Breanna Stewart (WNBA player) because of the things she has achieved in the sport.

What is the most memorable moment in your career so far?

The most memorable moment so far would be winning a regional championship in high school.

What made you choose Dalhousie University?

I chose to play at Dal because I feel like the basketball program has a lot of potential and will be a great place for me to work on my game and improve

What are some differences you’ve noticed being a part of a DAL team compared to your previous teams?

Being a part of a Dal team is different to me in that everyone wants you to succeed and is willing to help any way they can; from our athletic director to our head coach, to my teammates - everyone wants you to be the best you can be.

How would you describe your time with the team so far?

My time with the team has been great. This season has thrown a lot of adversity our way but I think it gave us the opportunity to come together. I think that the things we have been through together as a team will make us better going forward.

How have you enjoyed classes/the university so far?

My academic experience at Dal has been good. I’m enjoying my classes and appreciate the many opportunities there are to get extra help in areas where I may need it.

What are some of your interests outside of sports?

Outside of sports I like to read, listen to music, and spend time with friends.
