(HALIFAX, N.S.) – Dalhousie’s Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation, Tim Maloney, is pleased to announce that Dalhousie will host the 2019 U SPORTS Final 8 Men’s Basketball Championship.
Sports & Entertainment Atlantic (S|E|A) will once again serve as a production partner for the event that will run March 7-11, 2019 at the Scotiabank Centre.
“We are thrilled to host the Final 8 Men’s Basketball Championship for the second time in three years,” says Maloney. “Halifax has consistently proven it is the true home of the Final 8 and we look forward to partnering with S|E|A to raise the bar once again for everyone involved in this event.”
As hosts, Dalhousie will receive an automatic berth to the championship. In 2017, the Tigers battled their way to a bronze medal win after winning their third consecutive AUS championship title, improving upon their fourth-place finish in 2016. At the time of release, they are currently tied for first in the AUS standings and ranked eighth in the country with six games left in the regular season.

(HALIFAX, January 31, 2018): U SPORTS today announced that Sports & Entertainment Atlantic has been selected to produce the next three marquee National Men’s Championships at theScotiabank Centre in downtown Halifax.
In 2019, the U SPORTS Final 8 Men’s Basketball Championship will be hosted in partnership with Dalhousie University. In 2020, the U SPORTS University Cup Men’s Hockey Championship will be hosted in partnership with Acadia University. In 2021, the U SPORTS Final 8 Men’s Basketball Championship will once again return and be hosted in partnership with StFX University.
