The Tigers won their first of 2020 with a 3-2 shootout victory over the visiting Moncton Aigles Bleus Saturday night at the Halifax Forum.

The Tigers got off to a quick start with Andrew Shewfelt scoring a goal just 17 seconds into the first period of the game. Colton Heffley got the assist. Dalhousie took a one-goal lead into the first intermission.

Maxime St-Cyr scored the equalizer just past the midway point of the second period with Gabriel Vanier and Samuel Guilbault getting the assists. The teams were tied at one apiece heading into the locker rooms for the second intermission.

St-Cyr scored his second goal of the game at the 7:30 mark of the third period with assists coming from Joey Richard and Vincent Deslauriers. Campbell Pickard responded for the Tigers a few minutes later to knot the score at 2-2. And that's where it would stay to end regulation time.

The teams were deadlocked after the five-minute over time period and headed to a shootout. Cameron Thompson scored the lone goal in the shootout to give the Tigers a 3-2 win.

Reilly Pickard made 27 saves for the Tigers while Moncton's Etienne Montpetit turned away 30 of the Tigers 32 shots.

Thompson was named the Subway Player of the Game while Shewfelt and St-Cyr were the second and third stars of the game.

Moncton heads to Prince Edward Island to face the UPEI Panthers Tuesday night while Dalhousie heads to Wolfville to take on the Acadia Axemen on Wednesday. Puck drop for both games is at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on AUStv.
