Benoit finishes fourth at U SPORTS Cross Country

Fourth-year runner Jacob Benoit (Windsor, NS) crossed the line in a personal best time of 24:42 to finish in fourth at the U SPORTS Cross Country Championship on Sunday. The finish earned him First Team All-Canadian honours. He is the first Tiger to bring home a first team all-Canadian in cross country since 2015 and his fourth-place finish is the highest a Tiger has placed at the national meet since Paul Chafe's bronze medal in 2005. In October, Benoit won the AUS Championship at Point Pleasent Park. 

Fellow Tiger Nick Robertson (Charlottetown, PE) was the fourth AUS athlete to cross the line in the men's race finishing the race in 44th place with a time of 25:53. 

Waverley Mulligan (Kingston, ON) was the top Tiger to cross the line in the women's race. She finished in 23rd with a time of 30:00. Fellow runner Mackenzie Kitchen (Ottawa, ON) finished in 105 place out of 147 finishers to round out the Tigers contigent. 

The UBC Thunderbirds won both the men's and women's team titles on Sunday. Western took home the silver in the women's race followed by STFX with the bronze. Laval won the men's silver medal, with Queens taking home the bronze.
