Tigers take first at StFX Invitational

Dalhousie's women's cross country team won the StFX cross country invitational that took place on Saturday, September 26, 2015. The women's team ran the 6km race and the men's team ran the 8km race on the StFX campus course.

As a team, the Tigers finished in first place for the women's race with a score of 24 points. They were followed by the X-Women in second place with a team score of 45 points. The Aigles Bleues came in third place with a team score of 105 points. This was the women's second win of the season after taking first place in the Dalhousie Invitational at Point Pleasant earlier this month. The women's team was ranked third in the country last week by the CIS Top 10 which moved them up after being ranked fourth the week before.

Dalhousie's Jenna MacDonald (23:12) and Kate Scallion (23:28) finished first and second, respectively. In third and fourth place was first year Hana Marmura (23:30) and teammate Leah Gouthro (23:30) running for the X-Women.

The men's eight kilometre race was a solid win for the X-Men who finished in the first nine places led by Cal DeWolfe (27:08), Nick Fevero (27:09), and Riley Johnston (27:10). Dalhousie's Angus MacIntosh finished in the top ten with a time of 27:57 followed by teammate Colin Long (28:14) who took 11th place. As a team, StFX won the race with a score of 15 points. UNB varsity Reds (66) placed second tailed by Saint Mary's Huskies (82) who placed third.

Dalhousie's next competition will be at the Moncton Invitational in New Brunswick on Saturday, October 17th.
