Tigers beat Sea-Hawks 3-2
Kasandra Trenke had a game-high 14 kills in the win.
The Dalhousie Tigers secured a 3-2 victory over Memorial University on Friday at Dalplex.
In the first set of the match between Dalhousie and Memorial, the Sea-Hawks began strong, securing the first three points with contributions from Nella Woelfel and Karen Greek. Dalhousie responded with a streak to tie the game at 3-3, thanks to a service ace from Talia Vydykhan and kills by Kasandra Trenke. Later, the Sea-Hawks managed to create a slight lead with a score of 21-19 following a series of Dalhousie attack errors. Despite a late rally from Dalhousie, the Sea-Hawks sealed the set with a 25-23 victory after a decisive kill by Nella Woelfel.
In the second set, Dalhousie started strong, quickly taking a 3-0 lead with kills by Talia Vydykhan and Kasandra Trenke. The Sea-Hawks responded with a service ace by Taylar Johnston, closing the gap to 4-3. Dalhousie maintained their edge until the Sea-Hawks went on a significant six-point run, highlighted by Ashlynn Harris's three consecutive service aces, moving the score from 8-8 to 14-8 in their favor. After a timeout, Dalhousie answered back with a seven-point streak led by Quinn McAleer's playmaking, regaining a 15-14 lead. Despite some service errors from both teams, Dalhousie capitalized on the Sea-Hawks' mistakes to close the set with a 25-20 victory.
In the third set, Dalhousie started strong with a kill by Ella Hornby, assisted by Quinn McAleer, and capitalized on an attack error by the Sea-Hawks' Nella Woelfel to take an early lead. Dalhousie maintained their momentum with a series of plays, including kills by Kasandra Trenke and Grace Calnan, contributing to an 8-2 advantage. The Sea-Hawks responded with a service ace by Taylar Johnston and kills from Courtney Hodder, narrowing the gap to 12-10. However, Dalhousie regained control with critical points from Talia Vydykhan and a final kill by Vydykhan, assisted by Kirsty Longino, securing a 25-19 victory in the set.

Despite several service and attack errors from both teams, Dalhousie maintained control and secured a 15-6 victory in the set, concluding with a final kill by Hornby.
Kasandra Trenke was named the player of the game for the Tigers.
