Tigers hire Murray as women's volleyball head coach

The Dalhousie Tigers are pleased to announce the hiring of Patrick Murray as the new head coach of the women’s volleyball team.

An assistant coach with the team from 2010 to 2019, Murray returned this past season to support interim head coach Michelle Aucoin. Previously he coached with the Tigers Volleyball Club and was a head coach for age group teams with Volleyball Nova Scotia from 2010 to 2012 and an assistant coach for the Bluenosers at the 2013 Canada Games in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

“We are excited to have Patrick take the lead on our women’s volleyball program and add another quality person to our team in Athletics & Recreation,” says Executive Director Tim Maloney. “We are confident that Patrick will help guide our women’s volleyball program into its next successful chapter.”

A Dalhousie alum, Murray graduated in 2010 with a science degree and more recently completed his pharmacy degree in 2016.

“It is a tremendous honour to be named the head coach of a program that means so much to me,” says Murray. “Through my time with the women’s volleyball team, I have been very fortunate to have been surrounded by amazing student-athletes and coaches. I look forward to building on the culture of excellence that we have established.”

Murray will start his tenure as head coach on Monday, May 13, 2024. Longtime assistant coach Tessa Bulmer will be retuning for the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach on Murray’s staff.

The Tigers have won 27 AUS conference titles in their history and three national medals including a CIAU gold medal in 1981-82.
