The Dalhousie Tigers completed three-game sweep of the Memorial Seahawks this weekend with a 3-0 win on Sunday.

The first set began well for the Tigers as they got up to a quick 8-4 lead due to a few unforced errors from the Seahawks and some strong kills. Dalhousie would continue to roll and grow the lead to 15-8, thanks to Talia Vydykhan (Hammonds Plains, NS) and Lucy Glen-Carter (Toronto, ON) picking up two kills each. The Seahawks would not go down without a fight, closing the gap to 19-14, but five points would be as close as they got off a nice kill from Janeen Pellatt (Yorkton, SK). A massive block from Glen Carter would end the set 25-17.

The second set started close with the Tigers taking a 4-3, but they would quickly build to a six-point advantage at 10-4 thanks to a block from Charlotte Arsenault (Ottawa, ON). Dalhousie would continue to roll, getting up to an 11-point advantage at 15-4. A nice kill from Karen Greek would see the Seahawks build a little momentum, closing the gap a bit to 16-8. The Tigers would once again find their groove however, with a real strong end to win the set the 25-12.

Picking up right where they left off, Grace Canlan (Dartmouth, NS) started the third set nicely for the Tigers with a big kill, en route to a 8-2 lead. A beautiful block from Greek would see Memorial build on a few points, but much like the whole match, the Tigers would take over. A few well-placed serves and strong defensive play would see the Tigers jump out to a 15-6 lead. With the Seahawks battling for anything to build on, Lydia Grawer (St. Louis, MO) delivered a powerful kill, sparking Memorial to close the gap to six at 19-13. Not done yet, Memorial would push once more, making it a four-point set, but a well-placed ball from Glen-Carter would secure the 25-20 set win, and 3-0 match victory.
