Tigers complete weekend sweep of Sea-Hawks

(St. John's, NL) – The Dalhousie Tigers took care of business on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Memorial Sea-Hawks 3- 0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-10) at The Field House. The win gave Dalhousie the weekend sweep and keeps their record at a perfect 14-0. Memorial falls to 1-13 on the season. 

Victoria Haworth was a standout for the Tigers all day. She scored 11 kills on 15 attempts for a kill percentage of 66.7% for the day. Courtney Baker registered another dominant performance for the Tigers, as she dished out 23 assists and had a game-high 5 aces. Alyssa Harding showed great poise on the defensive side of the floor, leading the team with 19 digs.

The young Sea-Hawks were outmatched at times again today, but fought hard in the 2nd set to keep the match close. Kaitlyn Kuchinka led the Hawks in kills with 7, while also providing 7 digs. Bell de Vries has a well-rounded game in the loss, finishing with 5 kills and a team-high 9 digs.

The Subway Player of the Game was Victoria Turcot from Dalhousie, who finished the match with 4 kills, 4 aces, and 8 points.

Memorial have no games on the schedule next weekend, but return home on February 1st for matchup with the Saint Mary's Huskies. The Sea-Hawks and Huskies will play a three game weekend series, which will wrap up Memorial's home games for the season. The Tigers head to Saint Mary's to take on the HUskies Wendeday, January 23.
