(Halifax, N.S)- The Dalhousie Tigers defeated the Saint Mary's Huskies in straight sets Sunday afternoon at the Dalplex.

The first set was a tight one, with each team fighting back and forth for points. The Tigers and the Huskies were bolstered by their outstanding setters, Courtney Baker (Bridgewater, N.S) and Emilla Conlon (Dartmouth, N.S), respectively. The Tigers led 15-12 at the technical time out. A strong performance by Tigers hitter Julie Moore (Halifax, N.S) with seven kills, closed out the first match with a win for the Tigers at 25-20.

The teams traded points early in the second match, and the Tigers led by 3 at the technical time out. Strong service by Tigers middle Victoria Haworth (Waverly, N.S) and a hard offensive push by Huskies player Maddie Clarke (Ottawa, O.N) kept the match close. Mieke Dumont (Kamloops, B.C) led the Tigers attack with five kills while Anna Watt (Calgary, A.B) led the Huskies with four.

The third and final set was a nail-biter, punctuated with long rallies and hard hits. The match began with a four-point run for the Huskies. The Tigers called a timeout and came back to lead by one point at the time of the technical timeout. The score went point for point near the end of the game, with both teams pushing hard to claim the match. Mieke DuMont ended the hard-fought match with a service ace, and the Tigers came out on top with a score of 30-28.

Subway player of the game honours went to Julie Moore. She is currently leading the AUS in kills and kills per set.

Moore lead the Tigers offence with 15 kills, while Haworth and DuMont had nine apiece. Watt and Clarke led the Huskies with seven kills each.

The Tigers continue to top the AUS standings with a record of 11-1, while the Saint Mary's Huskies claim second place with a record of 9-4.
