Rick Scott earns contract extension

Dalhousie University Director of Varsity Athletics Tim Maloney is pleased to announce that Tigers women’s volleyball head coach Rick Scott’s contract has been extended through to the 2021-22 season.

Scott recently finished his ninth season as head coach and in that time he has led the Tigers to five consecutive AUS championship titles and a fifth-place finish at last year’s U SPORTS championship.

“We are very pleased to announce that Rick will continue to lead our women’s volleyball program,” says Maloney.  “He has a proven record of winning and continues to attract top-level student-athletes to Dalhousie.”

The U SPORTS and AUS coach of the year this past season, Scott came to the Tigers in 2008 after 18 years of leading very successful high school and club programs and earned numerous titles and awards. Among these honours were four consecutive provincial club championships, a silver medal at the 2007 Western Canada Games, and back-to-back gold at club nationals (U17 in 2007 and U18 in 2008).

“I am very pleased and excited to continue as head coach of the women’s volleyball team,” says Scott. “I have had the privilege to work with many amazing student-athletes and coaches in the past nine seasons. I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish over the years and I believe that the future looks very bright for the Tigers.”

A three-time AUS coach of the year, Scott recently led the Tigers Volleyball Club 18U girls’ volleyball team to a Division 1, Tier 1 bronze medal finish at the Volleyball Canada national championships in Edmonton, A.B.
