Tigers top Huskies in straight sets

(Halifax, N.S.) The Saint Marys Huskies entered the second-half of the AUS volleyball

schedule at an even .500 and hosted the two-time defending conference champions, the Dalhousie Tigers Wednesday evening.

Dalhousie took the win in three sets (25-17, 25-19, 25-16) over the Huskies.

The Tigers had 14 kills compared to SMU's 10 in the first set.

Another 10 kills in the second set for SMU saw the Huskies outhit the Tigers.

The third set saw SMU hold a 7-4 kill advantage.

For the match, Saint Mary's held advantages in kills (27-25), digs (73-71) and total attacks (140-120). The Tigers held advantages in service aces (6-4), solo blocks (5-3) and block assists (4-2).

Mieke Dumont (Kamloops, BC) paced Dalhousie with seven kills in the win while teammates

Anna Dunn-Suen (Halifax, N.S.) had six and Emma Ciprick (Binscarth, MB) finished with five.

Kristina Alder (Brampton, Ont.) led all hitters and SMU with eight kills in the loss while Shelby

Charlton (Strathroy, Ont.) had five.

Maddie Clarke (Ottawa, Ont.) had four kills for Saint Mary's. Dalhousie improves to 10-0 (20 points) while Saint Mary's falls to 5-6 (10 points).

The Huskies host 0-9 UNB Saturday evening at 7 p.m. while Dal hosts 6-4 Moncton (12 points)
