AUS-RSEQ women's volleyball action

AUS-RSEQ women's volleyball action

The second women’s volleyball AUS-RSEQ interlock kicks off Friday, November 19th at the Dalplex. The Dalhousie Tigers and Saint Mary’s Huskies co-host this 10-team weekend long event that will feature five Tigers games in three days.

In the first AUS-RSEQ Interlock event of the year the Tigers were not scheduled to play resulting in an intensive schedule this weekend. It should be a great display of women’s volleyball as there will be 16 games taking place between the Dalplex and Saint Mary’s Homburg Centre.

The Tigers are only three games into a lengthy AUS season but have yet to drop a match in both the regular season and preseason. They have showed strength in the face of adversity winning two 5-set regular season matches against the Acadia Axewomen.

So far this season the majority of the Tigers offense has come from Mieke DuMont, Anna Dunn-Suen and AUS rookie Courtney Baker. DuMont leads the team with 43 kills on the season and has looked unstoppable at times.

On the defense it is no surprise that libero, Marisa Mota is once again leading the team with 65 digs.

The defending AUS champions and 9th ranked team in the nations, the Dalhousie Tigers will have a chance to prove that they are one of the best teams in country against nationally ranked RSEQ opponents.

First up is McGill on Friday afternoon at 3pm in the Dalplex. The Tigers will have to shut down the offensive duo of Emilie Mattedegrasse and Catherine Amyot who are averaging 3.43 and 3.33 kills per set.

Later on that evening the Tigers will be tasked with another tough opponent in Sherbooke University at 7pm. Both teams will be fatigued, as Sherbrooke will be coming off a 3pm game against Acadia.

On Saturday the Tigers are slated for two games with Laval at 1pm and the RSEQ’s top-ranked Montreal Carabins at 7pm.

The Tigers will finish the weekend off on Sunday afternoon with a 3:00pm game against UQAM.

This is a crucial weekend for the Tigers in determining their national rank as they face three teams ranked in the nations top 10. Come support the Tigers as they faceoff in some the most crucial games of the season.
