2014-15 Season Preview

The Tigers embark on the 2014-2015 season full of excitement, new faces and looking capture their third consecutive AUS championship. The team is returning seven players from last year’s squad that will provide great experience and consistency and has added six impressive new faces to the lineup.

Fourth-year Jessica Josenhans and third-years Abby Czenze, Marisa Mota and Amy Appleby will provide strong play and assume leadership both on and off the court for the Tigers this season.

Second-years Anna Dunn-Suen and Julie Theisen look to take on more important roles providing a big presence at the net and strong back court play. Elizabeth Wright will provide an important utility role after redshirting last season.

Transfers Alexandra Hudson (University of Toronto) and Jane Delahunt (Mount Allison) will provide tremendous experience and a strong presence at the net.

Mieke DuMont, Emma Ciprick, Anne Krywitsky and Gabby Sakowicz come to the Tigers after very successful high school and club careers and will look to make an immediate impact in their first season.

Rick Scott begins his seventh season as head coach of the Tigers and is coming off back-to-back AUS championship titles. He has made great improvement with the program and done an excellent job developing his returning players and has had another outstanding recruiting year of first year players. He brings tremendous passion and energy to the team and an impressive history of success. He was named the Dalhousie University coach of the year for the second consecutive year.

Jon Elliott and Patrick Murray return to serve as assistant coaches. Megan Conroy joins the staff after a successful playing career and coaching experience at Memorial University. Former Tiger Michelle Aucoin will assist as the setter’s coach. The team is pleased to have Kris Andrews as the team’s strength and conditioning coach and Andrew Ling as the mental skills coach. Jessica Day serves as the head trainer with Rebecca Evans, Mikayla Kuan Veng and Madison Tompkins assisting.

The Tigers have a busy exhibition schedule hosting their annual invitational tournament (September 26-28) followed by a road trip to Laval (October 17-18). AUS league play begins October 24 when they travel to the l'universite de Montreal for the AUS-RSEQ Interlock. The Tigers also are also hosting Guelph University and l'universite de Laval over the Christmas break.  The AUS Championship will be held February 13-15, 2015 at UNB and the team is looking forward to striving toward a third consecutive AUS championship.
