Donovan nets four as Tigers women win 7-0
Riley Donovan exploded for four goals and Emily Smith scored her first as a Tigers as they defeated the Moncton Aigles Bleus by a score of 7-0 Saturday afternoon.

A four goal game by Riley Donovan (Toronto, ON) led the way for the Dalhousie Tigers women's soccer team as they defeated the Moncton Aigles Bleus by a score of 7-0 Saturday afternoon at Wickwire Field.
Looking to solidify themselves as one of the top teams in the league the Tigers offense shot out of the gate. Dalhousie dictated most of the play in the first half and it showed on the scoresheet.
Aigles Bleus goalkeeper Chelsea Burnham (St.Jean, NB) kept her team in the game in the first 20' minutes with a plethora of chances being thwarted by the third year goalkeeper.
Fourth year Tigers defender Alexandra Doane (Brookside, NS) went down early in the first half after a hard knock from a Moncton forward sent her to the ground. She was replaced by Zoe Brown (Halifax, NS).
Dalhousie would finally break the deadlock in the 21' minute with Donovan scoring from close range after a Tigers corner. The next 16 minutes of play saw Dalhousie pot three more goals. Another two off the foot of Donovan to complete the hat-trick and Chloe Richardson (Calgary, AB) netting her second of the season as they went into the half with a commanding 4-0 lead. Brown, who came into the game in the 12' minute, assisted on three of the Tigers first four goals.
The second half saw more of the same from Dalhousie as first-year Emily Smith (Orleans, ON) scored the first goal of her AUS (Atlantic University Sport) career in the 58' minute. The goal was assisted by Inari Moore (Whitby, ON) who had subbed into the game just minutes earlier.
The physicality turned up in the second half as well with the visiting Aigles Bleus receiving two yellow cards within a 22 minute span.
The Tigers would score twice more before 90 minutes were played as they won by a score of 7-0 to move them closer to the top of the AUS standings. This improved Dalhousie's record to 3-0-1 and Moncton is still in search of their first victory of the season (0-5-0).
AUS Subway Player of the Game was Dalhousie's Riley Donovan who had four goals on the day.
Dalhousie is back in action on Friday October 1st as they host the UPEI Panthers at 5pm.
Moncton will look to get into the win column Friday October 1st vs Mount Allison. Kickoff is at 5pm.
