Tigers add Ogoke for 2021-22 season

Dalhousie Tigers women’s soccer head coach Cindy Tye is pleased to announce the commitment of Hillary Ogoke for the 2021-22 season.

A native of Calgary, Alta., Ogoke plays for the Calgary Blizzard Soccer Club. She and her Blizzard teammates went undefeated at the 2019 Silverlakes Showcase in California, with Ogoke earning the Game Changer award in two of their three games. They continued their successful run in 2020, earning a silver medal at the Alberta Soccer Indoor Provincial Championships.

A winger, Ogoke was named the 2018-19 Rookie of the Year as a member of the girl’s soccer team at Western Canada High School.

“My journey towards this point in my education and athletic career has been full of many twists and turns,” says Ogoke. “However, I couldn’t be happier about where it has landed me. The Tigers already feel like home and I am beyond excited and grateful for this opportunity.”

A two-year member of the honour society, Ogoke will be studying applied computer science.

“Hillary demonstrates exciting athleticism and will be able to contribute to our attacking core and can transition to a fullback if needed,” says Tye. “She will add to our ability to create scoring opportunities with her pace and ability to combine with teammates. Her competitiveness is obvious in her style of play. She will challenge teammates to be better and wants to make an impact for her team. A student-athlete who excels in the classroom, we are excited to welcome Hillary to the team!”

The COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the 2020-21 season for the women’s soccer team.
