Tigers fall to the Sea-Hawks 2-1

(Halifax, NS)  - The Memorial Sea-Hawks beat the Dalhousie Tigers 2-1 at Wickwire Field in their 1 o'clock game on Saturday, September 26.

The first half offered many chances for both the Tigers and the Sea-Hawks which tested Memorial's goalie, Keira Eavis (CBS, NL) as well as Dalhousie's goalie, Katie Morgan (Calgary, AB). Dalhousie started the game strong with a goal by first year Shea Jeffrey-Novak in the 26th minute of the first half, scoring her third goal of the season so far.  

Memorial tied the game in the 39th minute with a goal by Memorial's Jessie Noseworthy (St. John's NL), scoring the first goal against the Tigers this season.  Memorial had another promising shot just before the end of the first half by Jane Pope (St. John's, NL) which was saved by Rachelle Lalande (Halifax, NS), after Pope got around Dalhousie's goalie, Katie Morgan.

The first half ended with a tied score of 1-1 for the Tigers and the Sea-Hawks.

After many chances for both sides in the beginning of the second half, Memorial's Emily Bailey (Mount Pearl, NL) scored the final goal of the game with only 8 minutes left on the clock. Bailey was named AUS Rookie of the year in the 2014 season and has now scored 4 goals in the current 2015 season. With no more goals in the game, the second half ended with a 2-1 win for the Sea-Hawks over the Tigers.

Memorial took the win against the Tigers this afternoon with a final score of 2-1. Memorial (2-0-2) will be playing again tomorrow, September 27th, against Saint Mary's Huskies at the Huskies' field. Dalhousie (2-3-1) will have their next game on Friday, October 2nd at 5pm against Acadia at Acadia's home field.
