After falling to an early 2-0 deficit the Mount Allison Mounties women's soccer team rallied to score three goals off the boot of Amanda Volcko, beating the Dalhousie Tigers 3-2 at Wickwire Field in the season opener.

The Tigers controlled the opening forty minutes of the game scoring two goals in an eight-minute span but Volcko's late first half goal seemed to deflate the home side swinging the momentum. The rookie Dalhousie striker, Shea Jefferey-Novak started things off for the Tigers scoring in the 28' minute notching her first goal wearing the Dalhousie kit. Dori Homerski kept the ball rolling scoring shortly after in the 39' minute giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
Despite being out shot 8-1 in the first half the Mounties managed to escape to the dressing room only trailing by a score of 2-1.
After a strong Tigers start to the second half Volcko rushed down the left side of the pitch eluding Dalhousie defenders and eventually sneaking a ball past the keeper, Tilda Hadley knotting things up at two a side. Volcko would complete the natural hat trick just three minutes later on a high lob pass that just managed to beat Hadley. The Mounties took a 3-2 lead in the 60' minute and never looked back.
Mount Allison keeper, Tessa Ritchie recorded her first win of the season making two stops in the outing.
The Tigers (0-1) will look to bounce back quickly as they take on the Acadia Axewomen (1-0) at Wickwire Field Sunday afternoon.
The Mounties (1-0) will travel down the road on Sunday afternoon to play the Saint Mary's Huskies (0-1).
