Antigonish, NS - Victoria Parkinson (Halifax, NS) scored the game-winning goal in the 75thminute as the visiting Dalhousie Tigers defeated the StFX X-Women 2-1 in AUS soccer action Sunday afternoon at Oland Stadium.
Parkinson, from the top of the 18-yard box, deposited a high shot over the outstretched right hand of X-Women keeper Erin Visser (Whitby, ON). The junior striker converted a nifty pass from Scarlet Smith (Wolfville, NS) to score the go-ahead marker.
“They scored two great goals,” Visser said after the match.
Visser made 11 saves for the blue and white, including a sliding effort against Smith in the second half that kept the match knotted at 1-1.
Subway player of the game Samantha MacDonald (Brampton, ON) opened the scoring in the 15thminute for the Tigers, converting a pass from striker Elise Bilodeau (Edmonton, AB).
The X-Women, in front of a partisan crowd of more than 300, scored the equalizer in the 25thminute from a corner kick, with Danielle Makar (Calgary, AB) heading a boot off the left foot of fellow freshman Elise Brennan (Brookside, NS) behind Dalhousie keeper Rachel Hunt (Halifax, NS).
