Tigers and Axewomen play to scoreless draw

The Acadia Axewomen and the Dalhousie Tigers grinded their way to a 0-0 draw on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Wickwire field. In a toughly contested match that saw limited offensive action from both sides, neither team could find the back of the net. This marks the first time in over a decade that the Tigers haven't recorded a win in their first two games.

Both keepers stood tall when they were tested, and Katie Morgan's diving save on a close strike in the final ten minutes kept the game even. Neither team could seem to put together a solid attack, as both sides played tight defense.

Michelle Yates had plenty of chances and pressed hard all game for the Tigers, registering five shots but she just couldn't seem to find the back of the net. Meghan Earle led the Axewomen with three shots, including two on target.

The Tigers will try to put themselves in the win column when they hit the pitch again against the last-place Saint Mary's Huskies on September 13th at 1:00pm. The Tigers have been a historically strong road team, finishing 5-1-1 away from Wickwire field last year.

The Axewomen will shift their focus onto their next game against Moncton on September 13 at 1:00pm, while the Tigers face off against the Saint Mary's Huskies next Saturday at 1:00pm.
