Wamboldt commits to Tigers for 2021-22 season

Dalhousie Tigers women’s hockey head coach Troy Ryan is pleased to announce the commitment of Abby Wamboldt for the 2021-22 season.

A native of Hammond Plains, Nova Scotia, Wamboldt played with the King’s Edgehill School women’s prep hockey team of the North American Prep Hockey Association (NAPHA). A forward, she was named a NAPHA playoff tournament all-star in the 2018-19 season.

Before King’s Edgehill, she played for the Penguins of the Nova Scotia Maritime Major Female Hockey League.

“I'm extremely excited to start this new chapter of my life,” says Wamboldt. “Growing up I've always had my family close to me – always watching my games and supporting me through every step of the way. I love that Dal is close to home, so I will still feel all the support of my friends and family. I have heard nothing but great things about Dalhousie and am very excited to be studying something I'm passionate about while continuing to play hockey.”

Wamboldt will be studying science at Dalhousie.

“We are excited to welcome Abby to our program,” says Ryan. “We are confident that she will develop into an offensive threat in the AUS. She is committed to putting in the work, on and off the ice, to be an impact player.”

The 2020-21 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Tigers look forward to returning to the ice for the 20121-22 season.
