(Halifax, NS) – In their final game of the 2018-19 season, the Dalhousie Tigers hosted the St. Thomas Tommies in women's hockey action. Early goals in both the first and third period made the difference for the Tommies, as they took the 5-2 win to end the season.

It didn't take long to break the deadlock in this one, as an aggressive forecheck from the Tommies forced a turnover in the attacking end, leaving Olivia Reid (Aurora, ON) all alone on the doorstep to tap home the pass from Emily Oleksuk (Thunder Bay, ON).

The Tigers were able to answer back quickly however, when a long shot from the point off the stick of Taylor Carr-Babineau (Moncton, NB) made its way through a crowd and was deflected in front by Bobbi Strople (Halifax, NS) to tie it up at 1-1.

Rookie goaltender Taylor Beam (Brooklin, ON) was busy in the first period for the Tigers, but was solid with 13 stops in the frame. With one goal apiece, that's the way the teams went into the first intermission.

After a quiet start to the second period, the Tommies were able to find the go-ahead goal as Danielle Ring (Saint John, NB) broke across the blue-line in a 2-on-1 situation. Ring took her time before sending a hard pass across the slot to Stephanie Ford (Cobourg, ON) who one-timed the pass into the near-side corner to make it 2-1.

On a powerplay opportunity late in the period, Oleksuk made a great individual effort to work below the goal line and out front for a tough angle shot over the shoulder of Beam to give them a two-goal advantage.

With that late goal the team's went into the third period with the Tommies leading 3-1 over the Tigers.

It took only 15 seconds for the Tommies to find the back of the net in the third period, as a battle in the corner right off the draw caused the puck to pop out into the slot for Olivia Reid who was wide open with plenty of time to pick her spot over the left pad of Beam to make it 4-1.

The scoring didn't stop there however, as a scramble in front left the puck for Alisha Gilbert (Chipman, NB) to pick up the loose puck and send it home.

The Tigers were close to finding one more as a long shot from the point was redirected in front by Nicole Hegyi (Pickering, ON) rang off the post and stayed out. Off the following faceoff, the Tigers were finally able to find their second goal as Brooklyn Paisley (Shawinigan Lake, BC) collected the puck and walked out front with plenty of space to squeeze the puck under the pad of Taylor Cook (Brantford, ON).

As the final whistle blew, the Tommies were able to come away with the 5-2 win in the final game of the regular season.

The Subway Player of the Game for the Tommies was Olivia Reid, who finished with two goals in the game, both of which game within 30 seconds of the start of a period.
