Stanwood scores 2 in 5-3 win over Mounties

The Dalhousie Tigers defeated the Mount Allison Mounties 5-3 in AUS women's hockey action on Saturday night in Sackville. After falling down 2-0 in the first, the Tigers worked their way back to pull even with the Mounties before scoring the eventual game winner with nine minutes to play.  

The Mounties struck first when Jessica Campbell tipped a pass in the slot past Fabiana Petricca just over 11 minutes into the game. Abby Wisener and Rhiannon Ford picked up assists on the play.  

The Mounties extended their lead to 2-0 three minutes later when Maddy Koughan streaked down the left wing and ripped a wrister over the shoulder over Petricca. Abby Beale picked up an assist on the play. Dalhousie would pull to within 1 just 40 seconds later when Natalie Stanwood beat Katie Mowbray from the slot. Autumn Moors and Tara Morning got assists on the play. 

Dalhousie tied the game at 2-2 when Stanwood scored her second of the game six minutes into the second period. The Mounties retook the lead when Jessica Desautels scored a beautiful end-to-end marker on the power play with 3 minutes remaining in the second. But once again the Tigers would answer back less than a minute later. Lauren Ellerton scored to tie the game at 3-3.  

Dalhousie took a 4-3 lead when Bianca Canade scored will 11 minutes gone in the third period. Danika Phillips ended the scoring for the Tigers as she put one in the empty Mounties goal.  

The Tigers return to action on Sunday when they travel to UNB for a 2PM game with the Reds. The Mounties hit the road as well, playing at StFX at 2PM.
