In AUS women's hockey action at the Halifax Forum, the Dalhousie Tigers defeated the St. Thomas Tommies 4-3 in a game where two quick, late goals decided the outcome.

The first period saw Dalhousie's Lauren Ellerton (Toronto, ON) break up a 3 on 1 on the penalty kill, cause a 2 on 1 the other way, and almost score about three minutes into the game. The Tigers got the first goal when Tyra Death (Grand Prairie, AB) scored from the circle off a great pass from the other circle at 6:06 to give Dalhousie a 1-0 lead. The Tommies would respond when Alisha Gilbert (Chipman, NB) put a rebound in front into the net at 17:37 on the powerplay to end the first period in a 1-1 tie.

In the second period, Ellerton turned a good burst of speed and a great wrist shot from the circle into a goal at 1:43 on the powerplay to make it 2-1. Dalhousie almost got another when Keana Oshowy (Woodbridge, ON) let off a quick wrist shot that was stopped with about three minute left in the second. Oshowy got another chance about two minutes later when she had the puck on a 2 on 0, but her shot missed the net to keep the score 2-1 after the second period.

As the third period was playing out, The Tommies almost tied it up when Danielle Ring (Saint John, NB) broke in and let off a shot from the circle that was stopped with about nine minutes left in the third. The Tommies finally did tie it up when Lauren Legault (Winnipeg, MB) put the puck in off a partial scramble at 11:12 to make it 2-2. The Tommies took the lead when Alexandra Woods (Courtice, ON) let off a shot from between the blue line and the top of the circle that went in at 15:33 on the powerplay to make the score 3-2. The Tigers managed to tie the game when Subway Player of the Game Lisa MacLean (Inverness, NS) got a rebound in front and scored at 18:44 on a 5 on 3 powerplay to make it 3-3. MacLean would come up clutch again 16 seconds later when she skated in and let off an innocent looking shot that found its way into the net at 19:00 on the powerplay to give the Tigers the dramatic victory.

The Tigers outshot the Tommies 34-31. Fabiana Petricca (Woodbridge, ON) made 28 saves for the Tigers, while Taylor Cook stopped 30 shots for the Tommies.

Dalhousie's next game is tomorrow at 3:30 pm against the Moncton Aigles Bleues at the Forum, while the Tommies next see action on Friday against the StFX X-Women at 7 in Fredericton.
