Ellerton & Rietveld score in 4-2 loss to Moncton

MONCTON – Janelle Graham scored twice, including the winner at the end of the second period to lead Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (6-8-2=14pts, 5th position) to a 4-2 win over the Dalhousie Tigers (8-7-0=16pts, 4th position), Saturday, in an Atlantic University Sport women's hockey game, in front of over 130 spectators at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena. 

The win ended a six-game losing streak for the Aigles Bleues. Their last win was on Nov. 11th, 2-1 overtime against the Panthers. Moncton is now two points behind fourth place Tigers in the standings. 

Marie-Pier Corriveau, ithe first period and Elizabeth Tremblay, at the end of the third in an open net, completed the Blue and Gold scoring. Lauren Ellerton scored the first goal for the Tigers on the power play in the second, while Jesse Rietveld scored in the thirdKatryne Villeneuve collected two assists. Gabrielle Forget faced 19 shots for the Aigles Bleues while Tigers goalie Fabiana Petricca faced 26. Moncton led 2-after the first period and 3-1, after 40 minutes. The local team was for 5 on the power play while Dalhousie was for 2.  

The Aigles Bleues travel to Charlottetown, on Wednesday evening to meet University of Prince Edward Island Panthers, while the Tigers head to Saint Mary's Sunday at 2pm.
