Tigers secure 4-1 win in third period

The Dalhousie Tigers beat the UPEI Panthers in their game on Saturday, October 31 at the Civic Arena in Halifax. The Final score was a 4-1 win for the Tigers over the Panthers.

Victoria MacIntosh (Hammonds Plains, NS) scored the first goal for the Tigers and for the game at the five minute mark in the first period. Teammates Morgen Kidney (Moncton, NB) and Joleen MacInnis (Whycocomagh, NS) helped on the assist for the first goal.

With two minutes left in the period, UPEI's Jessie Brown (Ancaster, ON) tied up the score with a goal for the Panthers assisted by Kiana Strand (Invermere, BC). The first period finished with a tied score of 1-1 for the Tigers and the Panthers.

UPEI's keeper, Megan Sullivan (Bathurst, NB), was put to the test in the second period with twelve shots from Dalhousie's offence that Sullivan managed to block and keep the score tied for the second period. With 1 minute left in the second period, the Panthers' Cornelia Geib (Calgary, AB) had a great chance to put UPEI in the lead, but the second period remained scoreless which kept the score at 1-1 going into the third period.

The Tigers started strong on the offence in the third and final period. At one point during the period, the Tigers were playing with two extra players when UPEI's Kiana Strand and Maggie Grimmer (Charlottetown, PE) were in the penalty box at the same time. Dalhousie had many opportunities at this time, but could get past the Panthers' defence.

With six minutes left in the game, Dalhousie had a great opportunity that turned into a penalty shot opportunity. Captain Sarah Robichaud (Weymouth, NS) took the shot, scoring the second goal for the Tigers. When there was just under two minutes were left on the clock, Courtney Sheedy (Orangeville, ON) made an assist to Taylor Reichheld (Haggersville, ON) who scored a third goal for the Tigers. Dalhousie didn't stop there. Robichaud scored her second goal of the game with only a minute to spare, securing the win for Dalhousie.

The final score of the game was a 4-1 win for the Dalhousie Tigers over the UPEI Panthers. Player of the game was Dalhousie's captain, Sarah Robichaud. 

Dalhousie (2-4-0) will play again on Saturday, November 7 against StFX (2-2-1) at 7pm. The Panthers' (2-2-1) next game will be against Saint Mary's (3-2-0) on Sunday, November 1st.
