Dalhousie falls to StFX 4-2

The StFX X-Women came away with a 4-2 win against the Dalhousie Tigers in their exhibition hockey game on Saturday, October 3rd at Keating Centre. Even though Dalhousie started with the lead, StFX came back with four goals to steal the win.

Jesse Rietveld (Pelham, ON), scored the first goal of the game for the Tigers from an assist made by Joleen MacInnis (Whycocomagh, NS). A minute later, Acadia's Sarah Bujold (Riverview, NB) tied up the game off of a power play and an assist by Daley Oddy (Cranbrook, BC).

Later in the first period, Jenna MacDonald (Osgoode, ON) set up Nicole Halladay (Smith's Falls, ON) to make a second goal for the X-Women and take the lead for the rest of the game.

In the second period, Oddy got an unassisted goal for StFX at 1:56 bringing the X-Women to a 3-1 lead over the Tigers. Catherine Civitares (Calgary, AB) secured the lead for StFX with a 4th goal for the X-Women off of an assist from team captain Taylor Dale (Oromocto, NB).

Rietveld finished up the second period with the last goal of the game which brought the score to a 4-2 lead in favour of StFX.

There was no score for the third period. The final score was a 4-2 win for StFX over Dalhousie.

StFX will be playing UPEI on October 16th in regular season play. Dalhousie will take on St. Thomas at 3pm on October 17th in their first regular season game in St. Thomas.
