Tigers add Crocker for 2022-23

Dalhousie Tigers women’s basketball head coach Tanya McKay is pleased to announce the commitment of Kelsey Crocker for the 2022-23 season.

Crocker graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University this past spring with a degree in science. Over her four seasons with the Mystics, the forward averaged 19.2 points per game, shooting 52.1% from the field and grabbing an average of 4.6 rebounds per game. Crocker and her Mystics teammates won three consecutive Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) titles during her time there.

The St. John’s, Newfoundland native was named the 2021-22 ACAA Player of the Year, first team all-conference, a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian and the MSVU Female Athlete of the Year. Off the court she earned CCAA Academic All-Canadian status in 2021-22 and the 2020-21 CCAA National Scholar Award.

“Kelsey was a major part of our team’s core leadership over her time at MSVU,” says Mystics head coach Mark Forward. “She demands a lot from herself and will bring others along with her. She is a steady, dependable, and accountable! She knows what it takes to win and has put the work in to prove it. She was the best player in the ACAA last season, and we wish her all the success as she finishes out her eligibility at Dalhousie!”

Crocker will be working on a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy while attending Dalhousie and playing her final year of eligibility with the Tigers.

“I’m really excited and thankful for the opportunity to continue my basketball career while pursuing my master’s degree,” says Crocker. “I can’t wait to be a part of the Tigers family and get started with this new team.”

“We are very happy Kelsey will join our program,” says McKay. “She is a natural leader, hard worker and will bring four years of experience to our program.”

The Tigers return to the court on Friday, October 28 when they travel to UNB for their first regular season game.
