Tigers add Timmons for 2021-22 season

Dalhousie Tigers interim women’s basketball head coach Anton Berry is pleased to announce the commitment of Maia Timmons for the 2021-22 season.

A 5’5 guard, Timmons completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa and suited up for the Gee-Gees for three seasons. She averaged 6.5 points and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 34% from the three-point line over the course of her career. A native of Hantsport, N.S., she and her teammates won bronze at the 2018-19 U SPORTS Final 8.

“I am looking forward to continuing my education at Dalhousie and to be a part of a growing program under Coach Berry,” says Timmons. “I am also very excited for the opportunity to play close to home.”

An Academic All-Canadian in 2019-20, Timmons was also a three-semester member of the Dean’s List at uOttawa. She has applied to the occupational therapy program at Dalhousie.

“I am very pleased that Maia has chosen to continue her journey as a student-athlete at Dalhousie,” says Berry. “Coming to us from a proven and successful program, she knows the undertaking and work ethic needed to compete at a high level. Maia's shooting ability and toughness continues to address some of our program needs. She will also be a tremendous presence in the locker room with her maturity, integrity, and leadership.”

The 2020-21 season for the women’s basketball team was cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
