TD Investing in Tomorrow's Leaders Mentoring program

TD Investing in Tomorrow's Leaders Mentoring program

Tigers women's basketball and volleyball players recently gathered with a group of mentees at the TD Spring Garden Road location for the wrap-up session of the TD Investing in Tomorrow's Leaders Mentoring program.

Tina Murphy, Manager of Community Relations & Marketing, leads TD's Atlantic Region community giving initiatives. With a focus on supporting programs falling within the areas of environment, education, financial literacy, and creating opportunities for young people, this program with the Tigers was a winning combination.

"The Investing in Tomorrow's Leaders program allowed us to have local youth and Dalhousie Tigers leaders working together to share best practices and goals for being and becoming active members of the community," says Murphy.

Jill Clarke, the Volunteer Services Coordinator with Halifax & Region Military Family Resource Centre, was on hand to give an informative and motivating presentation to six Tigers student-athletes and seven local young leaders about volunteering in the community and the various ways one can help and support the many areas and groups in our communities who rely on volunteers.

Everyone enjoyed a great lunch and participated in a healthy discussion about their community volunteer experiences.

"Being a part of this program was important to me because I recognize the impact that mentors had on me as a young athlete," says women's volleyball player Anna Dunn-Suen. "I believe that it was instrumental in my development as an athlete and as a person. For me, it was very rewarding and refreshing to work with such spirited young ladies and many of them inspired me with their contributions to their communities."

Thanks to TD for bringing us together to make a difference in our community.
