(Halifax, N.S.) Dalhousie University women’s basketball Head Coach Anna Stammberger is pleased to announce the commitment of Shealyn Brown to the Tigers 2016-17 lineup.
Brown will join the Tigers after very successful high school and club basketball careers.
The 5’7 guard has been a member of the Auburn Drive High school girls’ team since 2013. She was named tournament MVP at the Bill Dompierre Memorial Tournament this past January and helped lead them to a third place showing at the recent Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation’s provincial championship. After a stellar season, Brown was named a Metro High School league all-star and played in the recent all-star game.
A member of the Eastside Wolves Basketball club team in 2014 and 2015, she was named her team’s and the league’s rookie of the year in the 2013-14 season.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to play for the Tigers this coming season,” says Brown. “The coaching staff is extremely welcoming and I am looking forward to having new learning experiences both on and off the court next year.”
The Cole Harbour, N.S. native is a two-time honour roll student and has been accepted into Dalhousie’s Bachelor of Arts program and hopes to pursue a career in nursing.
“We are pleased to have another student-athlete from Auburn High School join the Tigers after having enjoyed the tremendous work ethic and leadership from Auburn High grad Chika Chiekwe this season,” says head coach Anna Stammberger. “Shealyn works hard and is very focused both in the classroom and on the court and I know she will continue to grow and develop into a strong contributor for the Tigers.”
The Tigers qualified for the AUS playoffs this season and will be looking to repeat their success in 2016-17.
