Pendergast Honoured

Pendergast Honoured

Congratulations to women's basketball assistant coach Noel Pendergast on receiving the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists' (CSRT) Robert Merry Excellence in Education Award.

The award was designed to honour Robert Merry, who made significant contributions in the field of education in respiratory therapy. It is awarded annually at the President’s banquet during the Annual Education Conference.

Pendergast, a Respiratory Therapy educator in Dalhousie's School of Health Sciences, was honoured for being an innovative educator, a well-respected interprofessional team member and a generous community volunteer. In its announcment, the CSRT Board of Directors noted that Pendergast is "an outstanding ambassador for the respiratory therapy profession who is well respected by his colleagues and has been successful in motivating his students, encouraging them to advance their respiratory therapy education."

"It really was a tremendous honour," says Pendergast. "Especially since I was nominated by my colleagues and students here at the School of Health Sciences."

Noel has been with the Dalhousie School of Health Sciences since 1997 and has been working with the women's basketball program for six seasons.
