The Dalhousie Tigers are now 2-0 on the season after defeating the UPEI Panthers for the second time in as many days tonight at the Dalplex. After going into the fourth quarter tied at 55, the Tigers willed their way to a 73-63 victory.

The Tigers went on a 13-4 run to start the game and held a nine point advantage after ten minutes of play.

The duo of Ainsley MacIntyre and Courtney Thompson led the Tigers going into the half with 13 and 12 points, respectively. The Panthers couldn't get things going offensively as they shot just 33.33% from the field in the first half, but they only trailed by four as the Tigers held a 36-32 lead going into halftime.

Danielle MacDonald gave the Panthers the lead when she hit a three to make the game 39-38 for UPEI in the third quarter. The teams would trade buckets and trade leads for the remainder of the quarter, but Tamara Tompkins hit a three and then a layup in the final 24 seconds to tie the game at 55 going into the final frame.

Thompson hit a jumper off a pass from Robbi Daley with 5:05 left and the Tigers wouldn't look back as they fought their way to a 73-63 victory, finishing the sweep of the opening series against the Panthers. Tessa Stammberger connected on two three pointers in the final five minutes, while Thompson had seven of her game-high 27 points down the stretch to seal the deal for the Tigers.
