The Tigers track and field athletes got off to a great start in 2023.

17 athletes won their respective events over the course of three days at the 2023 Athletics Nova Scotia Open at the Canada Games Centre in Halifax. 

Lauren Lowther won the women's 3,000m event while Nick Roberston placed second in the men's event. Abbi Gaudry and Lorena Heubach were first and second, respectively in the women's hurdles, while Peter Collier earned top spot in the men's event with fellow Tiger Zach Lowe placing third.

The Tigers grabbed the top two spots in the women's and men's 1000m races. Carley Birrell was first for the women with Catherine Kennedy close behind in second. Aidan Goslett claimed top spot for the men with Daniel Rosen following in second.

Zach James won the men's 600m, as did Chloe Richardson in the 300m. Ali Poisson led a Dalhousie sweep of the women's 200m race with Alliyah Arab-Smith, Teigan Schentrup and Anika Nastasiuk following in second through fourth. Matthew Aftanas won the men's 200m with fellow Tiger Peter Macgregor following in second.

Lorena Heubach won the long jump with Abbi Gaudry placing second, followed by Hannah McGean and Amanda Black. Nick Beaulieu leapt to victory in the men's long jump with Skeets Greene placing third. Greene took top spot in the men's high jump with Diego Marshall, Austin Conrad and Ethan Dahr. Black was the top jumper in the women's high jump, with Gaudry, Amelia Reid and Georgia Scott following in second through fourth.

McGean won the women's triple jump as did Oluwatobi Oshikoya in the men's event. Biola Oluwatobi finished in second.
