A 14-time AUS coach of the year (nine women, five men), Coach Cansdale is entering his 12th season with the Tigers. He hopes to continue building on the successful results from last season, while continuing a long tradition of excellence set by former Tigers swim coaches Nigel Kemp and David Fry. A former 20-time CSCAA All-American and NAIA Academic All-American, Cansdale has over forty years of experience as a competitive swimming professional and athlete. He is a former Executive Director for Swim British Columbia and has been a head coach for California State University (Bakersfield), Hyack Swim Club and Simon Fraser University. Lance has also worked with Canadian National Swim Team including the 1999 World Cup Tour, the 2002 Commonwealth Games and the 2001, 2003 and 2005 World Championships. He was the Canadian Team Leader/Head Coach for both the 2013 (Russia) and 2015 (South Korea) FISU Games Swim Team.  From 2010 to 2012, he was the Domestic Operations Director for Swimming Natation Canada, and he has been Swim Nova Scotia’s Provincial head coach since 2006, including leading Team Nova Scotia to the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg this past summer. A highly decorated coach, Cansdale has been named the BCSCA Coach of the Year, twice earned the Canadian Swimming Coaches Association Coaching Recognition Award, and is a seven-time Ricoh Nova Scotia Swim Coach of the Year. He holds a B.S.E in Physical Education (Ouachita Baptist University) and an M.S.E. Exercise Physiology (Texas Christian University).
