Tigers men win Kemp-Fry
Tigers women finish second behind Acadia.
The Acadia women and Dalhousie men won the Kemp-Fry Invitational Meet on Sunday at Dalplex.
The final evening opened with the women's 200m butterfly. Dalhousie Alexia Morgans won the race followed by fellow Tiger Mia Stein-Blumberg in second and Memorial's Heidi Perry in third.
On the men's side Isaac Bahler of Dalhousie touched the wall first, just off a U SPORTS qualifying time. Memorial's Daniel Pearce touched in second place followed by Dalhousie's Will Myrer.
Acadia's Ella Collins and Chloe Popp went 1-2 in the women's 50m breaststroke final. Kate Tuck of Dalhousie finished third.
Quinn Nolan of Dalhousie won the men's 50m breaststroke in a time of 29.17 seconds, just shy of the U SPORTS qualifying time. Blake Kingston of UNB touched in second followed by Jake LeCoure of Memorial in third.
Dalhousie's Emma Carrier Clarke won the women's 100m freestyle with a time of 56.68 seconds, under the U SPORTS qualifying time. Acadia's Cassidy Karrel and Emma Hamlyn finished in second and third respectively.
Memorial's Chris Weeks lowered his AUS record in the men's 100m free, touching the wall in a time of 48.17 seconds. Niall Johnson and Noah Thomas of Dalhousie finished in second and third.
It was a Dalhousie sweep of the women's 200m IM. Kate Tuck touched the wall first with a time of 2:21.45 followed by Emilie Schofield just hundredths of a second later. Mikhaela Johnson finished in third place.
Tigers Timothy McCowan and Logan Sparkes went 1-2 in the men's 200m IM. Acadia's Nate Thompson finished third.
Sophie Rooney qualified for U SPORTS in the women's 100m backstroke, touching the wall in a time of 1:02.60. Dalhousie's Emilie Schofield was a hair off the standard touching second with a time of 1:03.46. Acadia Grace Earle finished third.
The Tigers men swept the 100m backstroke. Liam Ferguson touched the wall first followed by Quinn Nolan and Cole Mitchell.
Collins won her second event of the night in the 200m breaststroke with a U SPORTS qualifying time of 2:33.76. Popp touched second followed by Dalhousie's Ava Mackenzie.
Dalhousie's Jake Gysel won the men's event followed by UNB's Blake Kingston and Dalhousie's Connor Maloney.
Rooney was on the podium again, winning the women's 50m butterfly with a time of 28.24 seconds. Fellow Axewomen Sara Bennett finished second and Memorial's Heidi Perry in third.
Memorial's Weeks lowered another AUS record in the men's 50m butterfly, with a new time of 23.06 seconds. Acadia's Marcus Vaillancourt touched in second and Dalhousie's Liam Ferguson in third.
In the final individual event of the night, Dalhousie's Emma Carrier Clarke went four-for-four in individual races, winning the 400m freestyle. Fellow Tiger Ella Dobson finished second followed by Acadia's Cassidy Karrel.
On the men's side Acadia's David Harvie broke up the Sparkes brothers, touching the wall in second. Morgan Sparkes touched first with a time of 3:57.50. Logan Sparkes touched third.
Acadia's 4x100m relay team of Rooney, Collins, Karrel and Eadaoin McGrath qualified for U SPORTS with a time of 4:15.41. Dalhousie's team of Schofield, Tuck, Stein-Blumberg and Carrier Clarke finished second. The Memorial team of Ali Warren, Lindsey Goodland, Heidi Perry, and Marcy Whelan finished third.
On the men's side, Dalhousie won the 4x100 medley relay in a time of 3:45.74. Memorial touched second followed by UNB.
After five sessions of swimming over three days, the Acadia women and the Dalhousie men won the meet.
