Swimmers finish strong on final day of national championships

Allison McCloy kicked off the third and final evening of the 2023 U SPORTS Swimmiing Championships with a fifth-place finish in the women's 200m butterfly event. Frederick Chandler-Baas placed fifth in the C final to finish the event is 21st place overall in the men's 200m butterfly.

Noah Mascoll-Gomes finished eighth in the men's 100m freestyle B final after missing qualifying for the A final in the morning by five-one hundreths of a second to earn a 16th place overall ranking in the event.

Liam Ferguson touched the wall in seventh place in the C final of the men's 200m backstroke to finish 23rd overall.

McCloy and Reagan Crowell both swam the women's 800m freestyle event with McCloy finishing in seventh, and Crowell in 13th. Logan Sparkes swam to a 16th place finish in the men's 1500m freetyle event.

In the final events of the evening, the women's 400m freestyle relay team of Crowell, McCloy, Kate Tuck and Emilie Schofield had a great swim on their way to finishing fifth. The men's team of Sparkes, Mascoll-Gomes, Ferguson and Chandler-Baas was 12th.

After three days of competition, the women's team was eighth in the team standings, while the men finished 13th.
