Swimmers off to good start at U SPORTS championships

Tigers swimmers had some great results on day one of the 2023 U SPORTS Swimming Championships hosted by the University of Victoria.

Reagan Crowell swam a personal-best time of 26.33 to advance to the 50m freestyle C final and finished 6th in the race to take the 22nd spot overall. Noah Mascoll-Gomes also posted a personal-best time of 22.95 in the men's 50m freestyle to move on to the B final where he finished 7th to place 15th overall.

Liam Ferguson took home 23rd place in the men's 100m backstroke with a seventh-place finish in the C final.

Allison McCloy and Crowell both earned spots in the women's 400m freestyle A final. McCloy placed sixth in the event, while Crowell finished in eighth.

Logan Sparkes posted his fastest time of the year in the men's 400m freestyle event to advance to the C final where he placed 24th.

The 400m medley relay team of Emilie Schofield, Abbey Corish, Veronica Hollick and Crowell finished in 12th, while the men's team of Ferguson, Sparkes, Frederick Chandler-Baas and Mascoll-Gomes took the number 10 spot to finish the first day of events.

After the first day of competition, the women sit in 12th, while the men are 16th.
