Swimmers capture men's and women's team titles

WOLFVILLE, N.S. – The Dalhousie Tigers swept this year's Jack Scholz meet with wins in the men's and women's team standings along with the combined standings. The men's Tigers regained the title for 2021 after losing to the host Axemen in 2019. The host Axewomen grabbed third spot in the women's standings behind the Memorial Sea-Hawks.

While the Acadia squad grabbed the most individual victories with fifteen race wins, the Tigers racked up 1242 combined points including 575 points by the women's team and 667 points by the men's. The second place Axemen compiled 485 points, while the women's Memorial Sea-Hawks posted 442.5 points.

The Memorial Sea-Hawks had nine race wins, while Dalhousie posted eight.

Memorial's Kate Williams had a meet high four race wins including 200m& 100m backstroke and 200m & 100m freestyle. Acadia's Kali Lancaster dominated the women's breaststroke with wins in the 200m, 100m and 50m races.

On the men's side, two swimmers captured three wins- both Acadia Axemen. Gordon Shortt won in the 200m & 100m breaststroke and the 200m butterfly, while teammate Dean Sangster won the 200m & 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle.

In Day 2 relay races, the women Tigers won the 200m freestyle and meet ending 400m medley relay. The Memorial Sea-Hawks narrowly won the 200m men's freestyle relay squeezing past the Dalhousie Tigers.

The men's Tigers ended the Scholz meet with narrow 0.21 of second win over the host Axemen in the 400m medley relay.

The next AUS scheduled meet is hosted by UNB on October 30 and 31.
