Swimmers posted 22 U SPORTS championship qualifying times on the second day of Dalhousie's 2019 Kemp-Fry Invitational Swim Meet.
The evening session featured 16 finals, with McGill winning eight of 16, while the Tigers claimed victory in five, followed by Acadia with three.
Isabel Sarty won the first race of the day, posting an AUS record setting time of 25.51, which was also a U SPORTS-qualifying time. She broke the record she previously set at last year's AUS championships, bettering her preliminary time by 0.01 seconds. UNB's Leah Smal was second in the race, followed by Martine Nyhof (Dal) in third.
Acadia's Liem Brett won the men's 50 freestyle with a U SPORTS-qualifying time of 22.72. Mount Allison's Noah Mascoll-Gomes was second, followed by Acadia's Reilly Baker.
Gabriella Doueihy (McGill) won the women's 400m IM automatically qualifying for the national championship. Acadia's Cali Bruce and Madison Murray were second and third respectively.
McGill's Eric Pelletier punched his ticket to the national championships in the men's 400m IM. Dal's Alec Karlsen and McGill's Alexandre Younes (McGill) also earned a trip to nationals in the same event, touching in behind Pelletier in second and third respectively.
Dal's Lise Cinq-Mars earned her spot at nationals in the 100m butterfly event with a first-place U SPORTS-qualifying time of 1:01.83. McGill's Grace Valihora was second, followed by Acadia's Kelsea Vessey.
Clement Secchi led a McGill sweep of the men's 100m butterfly, earning a trip to nationals in the event. Kade Wist and Matthew Wittman finished in second and third respectively.
McGill also swept the women's 200m backstroke with Daphné Danyluk (first) and Claire Shewchuk (second) posting U SPORTS-qualifying times. Carley Doves-McFalls was third.
Acadia's Dean Sangster and McGill's Will Simpson made their times in the men's 200m backstroke, finishing in first and second place respectively. Pelletier (McGill) rounded out the top three.
Kelsey Crocker (McGill) punched her ticket in the women's 100m breaststroke. Dal's Victoria MacDonald and Abbey Corish rounded out the top three.
Gordon Shortt led an Acadia sweep of the men's 100m breaststroke. Fellow Axemen Andre Walcott and Brett Liem were second and third.

Clement Secchi followed suit in the men's race, earning his second victory in a national-qualifying time. Noah Mascoll-Gomes also earned a spot at nationals with his second-place finish. Dal's Tyler Immel-Heron was third in the event.
Not to be out-done, McGill's Daphné Danyluk also won her second event of the night while punching her ticket to the national championships in the women's 50m backstroke. Dal's Martine Nyhof also earned a spot at nationals with her second-place finish. Fellow Tiger Lise Cinq-Mars was third.
Dalhousie's Christian Payne won the final singles event of the evening, the 50m backstroke. He posted a U SPORTS-qualifying time in the victory as did Acadia's Dean Sangster who was second. McGill's Samuel Lasinski was third.
The Dalhousie team of Isabel Sarty, Martine Nyhof, Lauren Mosher and Lise Cinq-Mars won the women's 400m freestyle relay event in a U SPORTS-qualifying time of 3:49.34. McGill was second in the event, followed by UNB.
McGill won the men's 400m freestyle relay with the team of Will Simpson, Brandon Freiberger, Kade Wist and Clement Secchi touching the wall in a U SPORTS-qualifying time of 3:22.08. Acadia placed second followed by Dalhousie in third.
Day three of the Kemp-Fry Invitational starts tomorrow morning at 10:00am with the preliminaries followed by finals at 4:30pm. The finals will be broadcast on AUStv.ca.
